Challenge Overview

What is the DFC Film Challenge?

A unique opportunity for filmmakers to create short films within 72 hours. Designed to inspire creativity, collaboration, and rapid storytelling, the challenge fosters a supportive community and offers valuable industry exposure.

General Rules & Guidelines

What Participants Get:

  • Collaboration Sheet: Connect with fellow filmmakers for key roles and build your dream team.
  • Lab Workshops & Mentorship: Participate in virtual and in-person sessions covering technical skills, creative guidance, and industry insights. Mentors provide one-on-one feedback throughout the challenge.
  • Technical & Creative Brief: Delivered at the start of the challenge, including themes, required props, and practical constraints.
  • Gear Access: Borrow equipment from our sponsor list at no cost (COI required).

Challenge Rules:

  • Films must be under 7 minutes.
  • Submit your film via FilmFreeway by the deadline.
  • Editing and color grading must be done in required Edit tools to qualify for DFC prizes.
  • Follow industry safety protocols and maintain a respectful, inclusive environment.
  • All content must be original or properly licensed—films with unlicensed materials will be disqualified.
  • All footage must be shot within the 72-hour challenge period.

Prizes & Recognition:

  • DFC will award 300,000 BDT in prize money for top films and filmmakers.
  • All filmmaking departments—from cinematography to sound design—will be recognized for their incredible creative contributions.

Registration Process

  • How to Register for the Film Challenge Access the Form
    • Click on this registration link to open the form.
    • Provide Your Information
    • Fill in your full name and email address so we can send you important updates and challenge details.
    • Indicate your preferred role in the production (e.g., actor, director, DP, editor, sound designer, etc.).
    • Team Information
    • If you already have a team, list their names and roles.
    • No team? No problem! You can register as an individual, and we’ll connect you with other participants through our Collaboration Sheet
    • Submit the Form
    • Double-check your details and hit Submit to complete your registration.

What Happened Next

  • After registering, you’ll receive a confirmation email with important information and a link to the Crew Collaboration Sheet
  • You will get all the exclusive updates to you register email only 
  • Use this resource to connect with other participants, form a team, or find specific roles for your project.
  • On the start date of the challenge, we’ll send you a detailed Technical & Creative Brief with all the guidelines, including the required prop and theme.
