Our History
Direction for Camera (DFC) was founded with a simple belief: every storyteller deserves the tools, opportunities, and community to share their vision—without financial barriers.
Born from the passion of filmmakers and creatives in Bangladesh and Los Angeles, DFC began as a small initiative to provide creative training programs and international exposure to emerging filmmakers. What started as a few local workshops has evolved into a global creative platform—offering labs, challenges, and community events that connect Bangladeshi talent with the wider world.
From our early days of running grassroots film challenges to now hosting livestreamed workshops, mentorship programs, and global collaborations, DFC has always remained committed to accessibility. That’s why every program, lab, and event we run is completely free of cost for our members.
Today, DFC stands as a bridge between Bangladesh and the film industry, empowering the next generation of directors, actors, cinematographers, and storytellers to create work that inspires, connects, and makes an impact while exploring various film industry opportunities.
